freedisk.space is a free, open-source disk analyzer for Mac and Windows, and this website describes it. The short version: the apps don’t send your files, file names, sizes or scan results anywhere, and the website doesn’t track you.
The website
This site is made of static pages. It has no accounts, sign-up or contact forms, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party scripts. Its fonts, images and demo video are served from freedisk.space itself.
Like any website, the host that serves these pages receives the ordinary details of each request: your IP address, the time, the page you asked for and your browser type. The host keeps standard server logs for security and reliability. freedisk.space doesn’t use those details for analytics or advertising.
The Mac and Windows apps
Scans, file names, folder sizes, saved snapshots and the Cleanup queue stay on your computer. The apps have no account.
- Windows. The app makes no network connections.
- Mac. The only network activity is update checks, and they are off by default. A check happens only if you turn on “Check for updates automatically” or choose Check for Updates. It contacts the update server, which receives the request details listed above. Scan results are never part of an update check.
Links to other sites
The site links to GitHub, where the source code and release downloads are. Once you’re there, GitHub’s privacy statement applies.
Storage on your device
The site remembers one setting in your browser: your answer to the cookie notice. It stays on your device and is never sent to freedisk.space. The cookie notice explains it.
Your choices
freedisk.space keeps no accounts or customer records, so it has little to export or delete. You can remove the saved cookie answer at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser. For records kept by the hosting provider or GitHub, contact them directly.
Changes
If this policy changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change with it.
